Beginning in 2026, Class 10 students under the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) will have the opportunity to appear for board exams twice within a single academic year. The first exam, scheduled for February, will be mandatory for all students. A second attempt, planned for May, will be optional and aimed at students who wish to improve their scores. This significant change aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP), which encourages reducing exam-related stress by offering students more than one opportunity to perform.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj confirmed that results for the first phase will be released in April, while the second phase results will be declared in June.
Students may opt to improve their marks in up to three subjects—Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.
For schools located in winter-bound regions, students will be given the flexibility to choose which exam phase they want to appear in. However, internal assessments will still be conducted only once per academic year.
These guidelines were initially introduced as draft regulations in February 2024 and were shared for public feedback before being finalized. Visit https://doonglobalschool.edu.in/ for regular updates.
